Akoha – free starter deck & handmade gift giveaway
I have seven Akoha starter decks that Austin (their founder) gave me back in November at a conference. I got a little distracted by end of term school projects, exams, and holidays, but now I want to release these into the hands of the interested & positive world. I know that you can now purchase a pack at a low cost from Akoha and I don’t meant to detract from what they are trying to do by offering these for free. Really, I’ll be playing it forward myself as I’ll get a chance to play the “make someone something handmade” mission. I can’t promise that you’d get sweaters or afghans, but I do have a shelf of FOs – hats, scarves, etc. that need a home!

So here’s the deal. If you would like a free deck & a hand made gift, leave me a comment letting me know: why you think Akoha is innovative, or why you want to play, or why the world needs to play it forward. In order to leave a comment, you’ll have to register – but that’s a measure to reduce spam so don’t hate me. Each person who leaves a comment will get a deck and something I’ve knit in the mail. Alternatively, you can’t e-mail me – info@ my domain.
Updates: 7/7 gone! Excellent!!

These are new to me. I went to the Akoha site. I really want to win!!!
Thanks!
I’m a political scientist– isn’t it obvious?
I think civic engagement and being actively involved in making your community better even one tiny step at a time is a truly positive thing. If a game gets people to be a bit kinder and make the world a little bit nicer of a place, I’m all for participating. Plus, I like the ideas of a game that is easily spreadable and accessible– folks don’t necessarily need to buy a deck to play–and also watching your cards going on a journey certainly across one’s own city and possibly the world.
hey Jana, can I get a deck? I’m totally enamored by the idea of social ARG’s, have been wanting to try Akoha but none of the strangers I accost on the street have had any cards for me.
I’ve been checking the site since you first mentioned it a couple months ago. I was so excited when I got my notification they were going to be for sale. I’ve put off buying them only because I wanted to get into the game the old fashioned way…:o)
I like the entire concept of the game. It’s life. it’s how we should live anyway- sharing, complimenting, bringing joy smiles or comfort…the cards give that little push of inspiration, that extra motivation to be more involved in life, in our community…
yeah, I want to be part of that.
This looks like an amazing experiment and I would love to be a part of it. It seems like most people just live for themselves nowadays and can hardly manage to hold a door open for someone else. I would be interested to see how far this will go and just where it will go.
I, too, would like a deck if at all possible. Christi and I had talked about sharing a deck if you had a lot of requests but I am definitely interested. We were really excited when you brought it up months ago!
hi! I’d love to receive one deck to start playing them in my campus
. It’s going to be very interesting how the physical and the online world mixes
Thanks!
Hi! I would love to spread the Akoha love here in the Seattle area and on Twitter… we already enjoy paying it forward at toll booths and coffee shops and would love to use the deck as a great conversation starter / inspiration as we pay it forward in new ways!
Interesting. Thanks for sharing!
