Knitmas: Balsalm Cowl in Misti Alpaca Finished!!

Instead of doing school work this afternoon, I finished knitting my mom’s Knitmas present. The cowl knit up a little larger using the Misti Alpaca than it did when using Malabrigo (which is what mine is made of), but my mom’s shoulders are broader than mine so it should fit well. I still need to weave in the ends and block it so that the edges don’t curl. This took me five days to knit, although there were a lot of hours spent knitting in those days… Overall I’m very happy with how this has turned out.

In other knitting addict news, I was one of the lucky few who managed to get in on the Black Friday sale that Eat Sleep Knit are having. I’m going down to Columbus for 10 days in December once everything is finished up at school. I had originally planned on finishing up the cowl for my mom while there (and trust me, there’s plenty of knitting time between long road trips and being awake all day while the mister sleeps after his night shifts). Given that I’ve finished it, I need something else to keep me occupied. I ordered a bunch of single hanks of Malabrigo to make fun hats while I’m there. I figure that I should be able to knock off enough hats while there to pay for the yarn I bought – as long as I cover the cost of my addiction I’m fine with it. So expect some Etsy/shop updates in the new year…
