Log Cabin Afghan as a Wedding Present
This weekend we’re heading to Athens, Ohio for Jason’s sister’s wedding. I really like Kerri & Chris and wanted to get them something more personal as a wedding gift. I decided that I wanted to knit them an afghan. I only had a month to knit it up in, which was a bit of a challenge for a larger project. Especially when you start getting towards the end and a row in the pattern is 7+ feet long! I alternated 7 different colours (three shades of blue, a light gray, and three shades of green). I finished it by crocheting on a black border to help provide some structure.
I had a bunch of little ends of balls of yarn leftover. In my current quest to de-stash, I spent some time thinking of ways to use up the yarn. I ended up knitting a 5 stitch wide garter strip, alternating colours as they ran out. I used this in place of ribbon to tie up an afghan parcel.
Overall, I’m pretty proud about this, both as a wedding gift and as a large project that was completed in time!
