Mugatu Sweater: Mugatu for Prime Minister of Malaysia
I had been watching Zoolander with a friend of mine sometime late last year. He had mentioned that he thought that the Mugatu sweater was awesome and that he’d sorta wanted one.
70+ hours, 10 balls of yarn, and some minor finger cramping later – I had knit the following sweater. I’m pretty pleased about how it turned out given that I only learned how to knit over Christmas. This was also my first attempt at following a pattern and knitting something other than a scarf. There’s something nice about surprising someone with a handmade birthday present referencing a movie full of inside jokes.

I have wanted one of these jumpers ever since I saw the film, but have no idea what pattern to follow. Any tips?
You did a great job!
I knit the Mixology Sweater by Lauren L. from the book Son of Stitch ‘n Bitch. I knit the body in grey and the neck in black. I did knit the neck much shorter than the sweater in the movie so that Jason would actually wear the sweater (he doesn’t like big necks/turtle-like necks).
The letters were cut out of black felt and sewn on afterwards. This was my very first sweater and was done early in my knitting career. Now I’d probably chart it and knit the letters into the body, but then I was much too scared of colour work.
