Our friend Alex is an artist. She’s drawn and painted and doodled ever since I’ve known her. Lately though, she’s become more serious and has started painting portraits, which you can check out over on her website. We were out for a friend’s birthday a couple of month’s ago when Alex started taking pictures of everyone’s ears. I believe that her reasoning was that since we are all pierced our ears would be more interesting for her top secret project.

That project was revealed recently. Its a series of paintings of people’s ripped off ears. And no, it isn’t nearly as grusome as it sounds. Jason decided that he’d buy me our ‘ears’ as a birthday gift. We’ve gotten quite a kick of of having a matching set of his & her’s ears. The running joke is that if we ever have his & her’s walk in closets, then we’re going to hang these on the doors to tell them apart. For now though, they are hung above our bed.

It was hard to get a good shot of these in situ, given the layout of our room. I’ve borrow pictures from Alex’s site to show you what they look like up close. First up is my ear. Second is Jason’s
